For our acts of kindness we bought a homeless man water and fruit because he said everyone always buys him McDonalds and he was getting tired of that. It showed me that homeless people don't just want scraps of food, they want to be healthy as well. Also his sign said this was his first time being homeless which just goes to show me the rug can be pulled from underneath anyone. I feel extremely fortunate to have what I do have. Our second kindness was giving money to street performers. Our third act was giving money to the cashier at Starbucks to pay for the next persons drink. It was crazy because the cashier was so taken back and did not understand what was going on. We got to see the person get the free drink and they did not understand what was happening. It just felt rewarding to make someone's day like that.
Wandering around the city showed me how many homeless people there are and it actually made me upset I could not help them all out. I bought a soft pretzel at a food stand and was talking to the man while he heated up the pretzel. I think he just enjoyed talking to someone and he gave me a free soda. I just felt so great receiving the soda even though it was a simple gesture so that made me realize even a simple gesture can make anyone's day.
